Riders took on the day at their own pace. Self-supported with saddle bags filled with snacks and tools, if you prepare for the worst you’ll be prepared for anything all day on the bike.

I was told that ‘a sportive is riders pretending to race, but an audax is riders pretending not to race’. Pretty much sums it up.
